We are awash in toilet paper.

LATER EDIT: As of late Monday, 1/20/10, the limit on this deal is THREE items.  You will only get three $1 +UPs no matter how many you buy.  Three total all week.
As an aside, I understand a company not wanting to lose money.  I really do.  But, c'mon, you're offering free toilet paper and kleenex with absolutely zero hoops to jump through or work involved - in this economy, what do you think is going to happen??  It seems like this wasn't very well thought-out.  Yes, it drew tons of people into the stores and exposed customers to your product, but did no one stop and think that folks would load the hell up on one of life's necessities for free?

This was a crazy insane trip:

So, this morning Andy and I got our butts in gear fairly early to head out so we could get us some free toilet paper at Rite Aid (NOW LIMIT 3).  Imagine how thrilled we were when we discovered that the extreme cold temperatures overnight killed the car battery!

My mom came to our rescue.  We jumped the car and Andy let it run and (hopefully) charge back up while Mom & I went shopping.
Rite Aid/Simplify brand toilet paper (4pk double ply & 1000 sheet single roll) are $1 each and giving a $1 +UP back (NOW LIMIT 3).  The 4pk ones ring up at $.90ea with a standard Wellness card discount.  Hell yeah, I want free toilet paper!  As is the case in most stores, though, the shelves are pretty much wiped clean by now.  My store had mountains of the single roll, but they'd sold out of the 4pk rolls.  The store manager was working today and offered to substitute the 6pk rolls at the same per-roll cost for me: buy two 6pks (12 rolls) for the same price as three 4pks (also 12 rolls).  So while I got four 6pks, she rang them up for me as six 4pks - $.90ea, and I received a $1 +UP back for each one (NOW LIMIT 3).  Nice.  If your store isn't substituting, get rainchecks.
The store brand facial tissue (generic Kleenex) is also $1 with a $1 +UP.  I got the lone box that was left.
TGIFriday's snacks are on sale for $.97ea and they're giving a $1 +UP per bag.  Do the math on that one.  ;)
All Rite Aid stores should be at 90% off on most items for the Christmas clearance!  Those ten-cent shortbread cookies aren't bad at all, and I wish I'd grabbed more of the snowman tins at $.59ea.  Perhaps we'll go back later this week.

I also neglected a grocery post this past week.  We stocked up on meat, produce, lunchmeat, dairy, and a few other perishables for $60.92.  It was such a boring and uneventful trip that I didn't bother taking pictures.

I didn't much feel like blogging about the grocery trip because it's been one hell of a week here.  We got a nice little snowstorm Tuesday night and into Wednesday; by Wednesday morning the roads were a mess.  Andy was on his way to work when he came over a hill and saw a car spun-out and blocking both lanes of traffic right in front of him.  He managed to steer to avoid hitting the car, but in doing so he found the curb.  CLUNK.  After repairs to a tire and the steering system, I wasn't much in the mood to put on a cheery blog face.  If there's one thing I can be grateful for, it's that all this couponing I do has saved us so much money that we had the cash available to pay for the repairs.  That was a relief.

Now we're hoping that the car battery is fine and that this morning was just a fluke. *sigh*
